Sports Movement:
Basketball Free-throw
Our Task:
For out task we had design, film and edit a short 3-4 minute video explaining the physics of a particular sports action or movement. My group decided upon doing a basketball free-throw. We got our information for calculating force and velocity from a couple slow motion video clips of Daniel shooting a free throw. We got our measurements for the weight of a basketball, the height of the hoop and the distance of the free throw line away from the hoop from google since we didn't have a scale in grams big enough to weigh the basket ball and the gym was in use when we wanted to go and measure.
Final Product:
Reflection
I improved a lot in taking charge with the project, I took on huge leadership roles in the creating of the video. I helped with the major components of editing the video and helped with a lot of the major planning of the video and filming of the clips. Taking charge because I enjoy film greatly helped me improve my leadership skills and share ideas and tips with my group mates. I had a lot of fun doing this project and taking charge with something I'm passionate about. I also feel I did well with communicating with my group members and incorporating all of our ideas into the final project. I feel that my group members enjoyed working with me as much as I did with them. I was flexible when we had to redo all of our calculations and reworked the entire physics part of the video keeping it short and masking it less lengthy.
While I do feel the project went pretty well there are areas I could still improve. I could be more flexible and more relaxed when working with group members who aren't as cooperative as I'd like them to be. I could improve on taking lead to make sure everyone is doing what they're supposed to be doing and helping contribute to the final project at all times instead of wandering off and disrupting other groups. Since leadership is still my weakest area there are a lot of things there for me to improve upon. In our next project I plan to take a bit more charge in the math calculations to get more practice doing problems with real world data.

Important Concepts
- Velocity (vertical): Velocity moving upwards
- Velocity (Horizontal): Velocity moving horizontal
- Force: push or pull on an object
- Momentum: tendency a moving object to keep moving (how hard would it be to stop)
- Impulse: how long and how forcefully something is pushed
